According to the newly compiled Canalys report, the global smart wearables market recorded a 2% increase in shipments in the second quarter of 2022, compared to the first quarter.

Total global shipments of smart wearables – base straps and smartwatches – stood at 41.7 million units. Of these, basic watches have seen a large 46.6% increase in shipments, while smartwatches (those that have apps) get a 9.3% increase.

However, basic smart bands suffered a 35.5% drop in sales.

Shipped Apple took the lion’s share with 8.4 million watches shipped, or 26.4% of the market. Samsung was in second place over Huawei with 2.8 million units shipped, while Huawei had 2.6 million.

India’s local noise achieved a whopping 382% increase in shipments totaling 1.8 million. Noise, Fire-Boltt and boAT have had repeated successes, reaching around 1 million shipments per quarter.

This increase in sales helped India record its highest market share ever and become the largest market in the world in the second quarter of 2022 with 15%.
