Last year Apple announced its self-service repair program that offers over 200 original Apple repair parts and tools for iPhone 12 and 13 series, as well as the latest iPhone SE 2022. The program is now launched in the United States in so that users can easily order and DIY repair their devices from the comfort of home.
IPhone owners can select and order parts from the Apple Self Service Repair Store and can also ship their old parts for store credit. There is also an option to rent repair tools for $ 49 a week so that you don’t have to buy special equipment to repair your phone.
The self-service repair shop has displays, batteries, speakers, camera modules, SIM housings and Taptic motors, as well as a number of miscellaneous spare parts such as bolts and screws. Prices vary across the range with an iPhone 13 display package (includes display, screw kit, adhesive, and security screws) at $ 269.95 while a spare battery pack costs $ 70.99. Shipping in your old display earns you $ 33.60 in store credit while an old battery earns you $ 24.15.

Apple notes that self-service repair is “intended for people who are experienced with the intricacies of repairing electronic devices.” Apple also explicitly states that repairing the phone with parts of the self-service repair program will do so not void the warranty even if any hardware damage that occurs during the repair process will not be covered.
Some repairs, such as swapping displays, require system setup software to complete the repair process. Users will need to contact Self Service Repair Store support via online chat or telephone to launch the system setup software in order to complete the repair procedure.
Apple says its Self Repair program will eventually cover its Apple silicone Macs and expand to other regions with Europe specifically mentioned for the end of the year.
