Apple will switch to printed glass lenses for the telephoto lenses of its 2024 Pro models. According to a supply chain report, Largan will exclusively cover next year’s telephoto needs.
Molded glass lenses are thinner and lighter than traditional ground glass at the same magnification distance. This means that the 15 Pro Max’s 120mm zoom lens may be incorporated into the smaller iPhone 16 Pro in 2024, bringing it on par with the 16 Pro Max.
Due to the inherent complexity of printed glass lenses, Apple is already preparing for next year’s iPhone Pro models. Reports suggest that the company is practically monopolizing the supply chain with orders.
