The Apple Vision Pro reviews are in and we finally know the battery specs. When pre-orders began, Apple only revealed that the battery was only good for two hours of “general use” and 2.5 hours of video watching. It turns out those estimates were pretty accurate, maybe even a little underpromising.

Yet, you may have been left wondering, all this time, what the actual capacity of the battery is. Now the mystery is solved: they are 3,166 mAh. It doesn’t seem like much, considering its size and weight of 353g, but there’s a twist.

And it is that it is capable of providing a maximum output of 13V 6A and that the voltage far exceeds what any 3.8V phone battery is capable of. An equivalent of 35.9Wh for the voltage Typical phone battery would result in a capacity of 9,440 mAh, so if you were thinking something along the lines of “that really feels like a 10,000 mAh power bank” – well, yes.

The Vision Pro’s battery is external, as I’m sure you know by now, and has a proprietary connector to connect it to the headset, as well as a USB-C port that charges it using the included 30W wall charger, surprisingly for Apple. The proprietary connector uses a twist to lock system to connect to the headset without too many problems.

Apple sells additional battery packs for the Vision Pro for $200 each, but keep in mind that these are not hot-swappable. When the cable is disconnected, the headset turns off and then restarts when the new battery is connected.

Vision Pro will be available in the US only this Friday, February 2nd. It is expected to launch in other countries later this year.
