As per the report published on The Wall Street newspaper, Apple’s next iPhone 14 series may come in eSIM-only versions for some markets. Apple is not expected to make the full transition from physical SIM to eSIM on all of its devices, but rather will test whether consumers would be open to an eSIM-only phone.
Apple has already reportedly notified several major US carriers to prepare for its eSIM-only iPhone models arriving this fall. The main advantage of removing the SIM slot on a phone is that it frees up little physical space inside the phone that can be used for other components. Security is another aspect that users will benefit from as telecommunications can send security updates to millions of users at the same time.
