AMD has announced its new Ryzen PRO 7000 series chips based on its Zen4 architecture and built on the 4nm production node. The Ryzen PRO 7000 series comes less than a year after Ryzen PRO 5000 and is based on the future-proof AM5 platform and requires DDR5 memory. Additionally, the new 7000 series now supports PCIe Gen5.

The PRO 7000 series is aimed at business desktops with Ryzen 9 PRO 7945, 12C/124T clocked up to 5.4GHz, Ryzen 7 PRO 7745 8C/16T, up to 5.3GHz and Ryzen 5 PRO 7645, 6C/12T which can go up to 5.1 GHz. All chips are clocked at 65W.

In addition to desktop chips, the company has introduced the Ryzen PRO 7040 series designed for ultra-thin business laptops. The PRO 7040 family consists of three “HS” and three “U” CPUs: the former are rated at 35-54W while the latter are rated at 15-28W.

The Ryzen 9 Pro 7940HS is the flagship chip with 8C/16T and clock speeds up to 5.2GHz, while the lower power U-series has the same 8C/16T configuration but boosts up to 5.1GHz and features speeds significantly lower base clocks of 3.3 GHz.

While the desktop chips use RDNA 2 integrated graphics, the mobile series gets RDNA 3 GPU.

As the PRO 7000 range is focused on business, it offers a number of security and privacy features including AMD’s Shadow Stack, Microsoft Pluton, AMD Memory Guard and Secure Processor.
