The images are simply outstanding. A cyberpunk film noir setting allows you to show some truly jaw-dropping environments on screen. You will rarely be disappointed with the look of Shadowrun Returns. This high quality is maintained by the characters themselves, with the attention to detail in their portraits as they speak, demonstrating how much work the developers have put into making it look as good as possible.
The soundtrack is almost as impressive, immerses you in the world and hits exactly the right tone to match the sinister future you are in. Fans of classic Shadowrun games may also recognize some of the themes used in some tracks.
Game
The main element of this title in terms of gameplay is definitely the combat. A shift system very similar to the XCOM series is used. Move your units in the field and plan your attacks extensively. Taking note of your enemy’s position is critical to winning in these fights, as is a keen tactical sense. There is a lot of depth in the different types of weapons and ammo you can use, as well as special abilities or stats that could make a difference. However, the most important thing to know is whether your characters are in cover. This not only protects them from enemies, but ensures that they can move around without being put at risk.
