Minecraft review

Minecraft is more than a game. It’s a household name, a franchise, and, for some players, a way of life!

Of course, the game is also old and has already inspired a new generation of games and gamers. So, is this old game worth checking out or should you upgrade to something new?

If you build it

It’s hard to imagine anyone not knowing how Minecraft works. If you’re not aware, though, here it is: this is a Lego-style sandbox in video game form.

Your character wanders through a randomly generated world made up of blocks of different material. These blocks can be broken down into different components and then rebuilt into something else.

Creations can be very simple (like turning trees into tools, weapons and simple shelters). However, gamers with enough time and vision can literally bring anything to life. And while the game has aspects of a storyline (including bosses of a species), this ability to bring your imagination to life is the main attraction of this experience.

A sweet experience

Some experienced players don’t like Minecraft. They might think it’s childish due to the simple graphics. Alternatively, the lack of clear missions or objectives can be a bit disconcerting for a very goal-oriented player.

It should be noted, however, that the game is pleasantly sweet and simple. At a time when publishers are competing to churn out super competitive games full of pay-to-win mechanics, having a quiet experience like this is downright relaxing.

Sometimes it’s a little too relaxing. It’s deceptively easy to fall asleep while listening to the extremely relaxing soundtrack!
