Square Enix Released this new action game based on the original Dragon Quest Come on manga. This game is just a new title in addition to the many successful games in this company’s repertoire. The official launch date of the global server was towards the end of 2021 and since then many players have downloaded and tried it. Here in this article, we will look into Dragon Quest Dai: Bonds of a Hero and share our first impressions of the game.

The game has a lot Role playing game elements and manages to have a very frenetic and active combat system. The video game has a lot for fans of the Dragon Quest series, for Gacha players, and just for people who enjoy well-made games in general.
Dragon Quest Dai introduces the new three lane game system
Starting with Dragon Quest Dai: A Hero’s Bonds revision, Gacha games in recent times have all boiled down to some sort of turn-based system, where perhaps you need to match elements or combine cards to get bigger moves. These systems, while fun for the past decade, have begun to show signs of their age. In more recent years, games like Honkai/Genshin Impact And Punish Gray Raven they served to push the genre towards more action-oriented combat. DQ Dai’s approach to this change in gameplay was somewhat unique.
The game board the players start on has three lanes and players can move freely between these lanes to dodge and position themselves for attacks. The player character can also block and use special moves to interrupt or protect himself. The combat system is not too complex, but it is very different from what players are used to, so the combat encounters end up being very different.
Take on new enemies with your old teammates
Once you get invested in the fight and then start fighting bosses, it becomes a gentle dance of dodging and positioning to get out on top. Boss fights allow for a new mechanic where you are given a small chance to counter their magic throw with yours.
If the player can counter the enemy, he pushes him back, if you can push him back enough, you break the enemy and crush him against a wall, leaving him defenseless and open to attack. Micromanaging all of these systems while battling the enemy is where this game really shines.
The game has a decent Gacha system with all free characters
DQ Dai is obviously a gacha game at his heart. This means that in order to get new weapons and armor, you’ll need to engage in its loot / gacha mechanics. Well, we’re happy to say that at least this isn’t the most striking implementation of loot boxes.
The game costs money 3,000 currency to mine items, and while that sounds like a lot, the game so far has been extremely generous with the currency. We’re also happy to say that the characters are all free, so the only things you roll for will be gears and crystals of the soulwhich are purely statistical only.
At this point in the game from where we have come, there is no reason to “kick an account” either. We were given a 4-star weapon and with it we were able to erase all content extremely easily. The only thing you might even consider buying would be stamina potions as you will notice stamina and gold run out a lot.
Relive the legendary adventures of Dai with some new additions
The story revolves around the Disciples of Avan, the word is once again haunted by evil and Dai needs to step forward to save the world. Dai makes a promise to his mentor, meets new friends and slowly learns the truth about his fate. This game is the beginning of Dai’s Journey, but the bonds he creates along the way are what his quest to become a great hero really is!
The story is a classic JRPG tale that stands the test of time. There is the classic story of Traces of the Dragon where this story follows the original Dragon Quest the Adventures of Dai series. If you complete this mission, you will add familiar characters from the show to your time.
Bounding Journey is a brand new story written under the supervision of Riku Sanjo the author of the original works. In this new story, the characters are placed in the mysterious world Miliadosia where Pinky the Pink Dracky leads our hero. Who is the hero in this new journey, well, your player character is the magical leader of the Luminaries! You take center stage in this story and have a role as if not more important than Dai!
Final verdict
Dragon Quest Dai is a very well crafted game, if you don’t like fighting or anything else in the game, the least you can agree with is that the character models and backgrounds are stunning.
The game has a lot of production value and a lot of care has been taken to make it a faithful adaptation of the works of Riku Sanjo. The new changes to the gameplay formula are quite welcome and allow for very interesting new encounters. We are very excited to see how they can push the boundaries with this new game!
