Vivo invests heavily in the camera performance of its smartphones, but the iQOO flagships lack a true telephoto lens with a periscope lens in front. According to Digital Chat Station, this will change in the iQOO 12 Pro, and behind it will be one with a 64MP sensor.
The leakster posted on his Weibo profile that vivo is working on a solution to place the OmniVision OV64B sensor behind the 5x zoom lens. Also expected is the arrival of a new 50 MP sensor for the main camera, also from OmniVision: the 1/1.28-inch OV50H with 1.2 µm pixels.
There was no word on the ultra-wide-angle camera, meaning it could be the same 50MP f/2.3 with a whopping 150-degree FoV and autofocus seen in the last three top-tier iQOO Pro devices.
The upcoming iQOO flagship is also expected to have the ISP V3 chip, the leakster added. We expect to see it in the vivo X100 Pro series in early November when the phones launch with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, meaning the iQOO 12 Pro is expected to follow later this year.
