The vivo X Fold2 teasers continue to come from the 2023 Boao Forum for Asia, which will be held on Hainan Island in China. A local blogger took the device for an unboxing, which was later re-released live on Weibo, clearly as a coordinated marketing event, allowing fans to learn more about the upcoming foldout.
The new phone will have 3/4 of the red leather panel on the back, while the remaining 1/4 will have a glossy finish. While handling the X Fold2, we saw some new OriginOS Ocean UI features, including a taskbar for better app management, multi-window mode, and easy gestures, none of which were available in previous X phones. Fold.
The device clearly ships with two under-display fingerprint readers: one on the cover display, another on the fold-out screen in the lower right corner. This is the first time we’ve seen confirmation of the feature, which is a first for a foldable smartphone.
The hinge of the vivo X Fold2 has also improved, reveals the blogger. It now stays in all positions and angles, making for a neat kickstand for watching video content or taking photos and videos. It’s also around 10% lighter, which will be a huge improvement over its predecessors that weigh over 310 grams.
The official presentation of the vivo X Fold2 will take place in April. We expect to know the launch date in the next couple of days as the phone is pretty much ready for sale.
The event is also expected to be the landing spot for an upcoming tablet, the vivo Pad 2, which made a sneaky appearance in the video and was part of the vivo booth at the business conference.
