The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 will join the Z Fold5 at Samsung’s Summer Unpacked event in Seoul in the last week of July. As one of the most anticipated phones of the year, there have been a lot of rumors and leaks to give us more than a rough idea of what the phone will bring.
So we collect all entries under one roof. This is all we know about the Galaxy Z Flip5 so far.
Larger cover display
The biggest change, quite literally, is the cover display. It’s increased from a barely usable 1.9-inch, 260x512px screen to a 3.4-inch 720x748px screen that takes up most of the cover.
The new display has an interesting folder icon-like look and only makes room for the dual camera system and flash.
Samsung will make better use of the cover’s larger display by running specially optimized Google apps on it. Maps, Messages and YouTube will all work on the new screen, finally making the Galaxy Z Flip usable without the need to open it.

New zipper that closes flat
One of the biggest user complaints with Samsung’s foldable devices has always been the crease and the fact that they don’t close properly.
According to all reports, Samsung has made great strides on both fronts thanks to a new hinge design. Thanks to a new “teardrop” folding hinge mechanism, the Galaxy Z Flip5 will reportedly be able to close flat and have a less noticeable hinge.

IP58 resistance
Samsung’s new foldable devices may have the highest ingress protection score of all other foldable devices. This is hardly a surprise: Up until this year, Samsung was the only manufacturer to achieve waterproofing in foldable devices.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 will upgrade the rating from IPx8 to IP58, which means there will be some form of dust protection (this is 5) and a high degree of water protection (this is 8). Technically, the Galaxy Z Flip5 will be able to submerge in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes plus an additional depth and time, specified by Samsung itself.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with 8GB of RAM
This is pretty obvious, but the Galaxy Z Flip5 will get a jump with the all-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy (i.e. a higher clocked version than the standard one) with 8GB RAM and 128GB (UFS 3.1) and 256GB ( UFS 4.0).

Specs-wise, the Galaxy Z Flip5 will retain its predecessor’s 3,700mAh battery and 25W charging speed, as well as display and camera specs, meaning a 6.7-inch FHD+ display. inches with a 120Hz refresh rate and three cameras: one ultrawide and one wide angle and rear and one selfie inside.
Your screen may get a brightness boost and your cameras may get a boost in lenses or sensors.
Still spec-wise, expect the Galaxy Z Flip5 to get DeX support. To use it, you need a compatible HDMI cable or wirelessly to TVs and monitors that support Miracast. On PC, you only need a USB cable, provided your operating system is Windows 10 or Windows 11.
Finally, Samsung is said to double production of the Galaxy Z Flip5 from its predecessor, signaling higher expectations.
