Three weeks ago, Sony announced that it would close the PlayStation Store on PS3, PS Vita and PSP this summer.

Now, in a partial reversal of decision, Sony has announced that the PlayStation Store will continue to run on PS3 and PS Vita devices.

“It is clear that we have made the wrong decision here,” Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, wrote on the PlayStation Blog.

However, Ryan has confirmed that PS Store functionality on PSP will end on July 2nd “as planned”.

“When we initially decided to discontinue the purchase of PS3 and PS Vita support, it arose from a number of factors, including the challenges of commercial support for older devices and the ability for us to focus more resources on older devices. recent times where most of our players continue to play, “Ryan wrote, adding that PlayStation” always listens to “feedback.

“We now see that many of you are incredibly passionate about being able to continue buying classic games on PS3 and PS Vita for the foreseeable future, so I am delighted that we were able to find a solution to continue operations.”

When the PS Store closes for PSP on July 2nd, players will still be able to log in and re-download previously purchased content. But they will no longer be able to make new digital purchases and in-game purchases.

Additionally, any remaining PSN wallet balance will only apply to PS4 and PS5 products, although players can request a refund if they don’t own a PS4 or PS5.
