Samsung, which released its flagship S22 series in February, is known for releasing phones with different chipsets in different parts of the world. For the most part, the audio specs remain the same on its flagship models. The release of the Galaxy S22 Ultra (Snapdragon) is no different.

Like on the Galaxy S22 Ultra (Exynos), the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (Snapdragon) has two speakers that produce “surround sound with Dolby Atmos technology”. Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus are included.

We subjected the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (Snapdragon) to our rigorous SBMARK Audio test suite to see if Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset made a difference to Samsung’s Exynos chip in terms of audio performance. We measured its performance by both recording sound using its built-in microphones, and playing audio through its speakers.

Key audio specs include:

  • Two speakers: upper front, lower side
  • Dolby Atmos tuning
  • Advanced Bluetooth connection
  • No jack

Learn about SBMARK audio tests: For scoring and analysis in our smartphone audio reviews, SBMARK engineers perform a series of objective tests and undertake more than 20 hours of perceptual assessment under controlled laboratory conditions. This article highlights the most important results of our tests. Please note that we evaluate both playback and recording using only the device’s built-in hardware and default apps.

With an overall SBMARK Audio score of 71, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (Snapdragon) matches exactly the audio performance of the model’s Exynos version, placing the phone just outside the top 10 among Ultra-Premium smartphones in our database, and on par with the scores of the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and Google Pixel 6 Pro. It’s just one point behind its brand sibling, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, at 72.

Since both versions of the S22 Ultra have the same audio specifications and the scores are identical, we direct you to the S22 Ultra (Exynos) audio test results for full details on the audio performance of the S22 Ultra (Snapdragon).
