We subjected the Honor Magic4 Lite 5G to our rigorous SBMARK battery test suite to measure its performance in terms of range, charging and efficiency. In these test results, we will analyze how it fared in a variety of tests and several common use cases.

The battery performance of the Honor Magic 4 Lite 5G was excellent overall, showing that it was a well-balanced device with very good battery life, an excellent charging experience and decent efficiency.
During the typical usage scenario test, which is performed using the device’s default settings, the Honor demonstrated excellent idle handling and excellent battery life. During this series of tests, however, we noticed that the device’s automatic display brightness was relatively low when the screen was in very bright light compared to other devices. While this may have contributed to the excellent battery life results, it also impacted the user experience. The same screen behavior was also noted in tests on the go.
During the calibrated tests, in which the brightness is set to 200 nits, the device struggled when streaming video, with a runtime below average. The gaming performance, however, was decent.
The 66W travel adapter charged 80% of the 4800mAh battery’s large capacity in just 28 minutes and took 43 minutes to fully charge, which is much faster than average. The autonomy recovered after a 5-minute charge was also impressive, with an average yield of over 9 hours.
Charging was very efficient, ranking the device as the second best in efficiency in the entire database.
Discharge currents were low, especially during calls, and only increased to an above average level when watching video.
Compared to other devices in the Advanced segment ($ 200 – $ 399), the Honor Magic4 Lite 5G was among the best. While the battery life was slightly below average for this segment, the Magic4 Lite 5G’s excellent charging experience (second best in this segment) and decent efficiency put the phone in good shape.

Charging is completely part of the overall battery experience. In some situations where battery life is minimal, knowing how fast you can charge becomes a problem. The SBMARK battery charge score consists of two secondary scores, (1) Full charge and (2) Fast boost.

Full charge tests evaluate the reliability of the battery charge indicator; measure how long and how much energy the battery takes to charge from zero to 80% capacity, 80 to 100% as shown by the user interface, and up to an actual full charge.

The charging curves, in wired and wireless mode (if available) show the evolution of the battery level indicator as well as the energy consumption in watts during the charging phases towards full capacity.

How the efficiency score is composed

The SBMARK energy efficiency score consists of two secondary scores, Charge up and Discharge rate, which combine both data obtained during a typical use scenario based on robots, calibrated tests and charge evaluation, taking into account the battery capacity of the device . SBMARK calculates the annual energy consumption of the product, shown in the graph below, which is representative of the overall efficiency during charging and in use.

The secondary charge score is a combination of four factors: the overall efficiency of a full charge, relative to the amount of energy needed to fill the battery versus the energy the battery can provide; the efficiency of the travel adapter when it comes to transferring power from an outlet to the phone; the residual consumption when the phone is fully charged and still connected to the charger; and the residual consumption of the charger itself, when the smartphone is disconnected from it. The graph below shows the overall efficiency of a full charge in%.

It is the ratio of the capacity of a battery divided by its autonomy.
