In September last year we first heard that Xiaomi was working on a flip-style foldable to integrate the Mix Fold line into its portfolio. This was supposed to be called the Xiaomi Mix Flip and was said to arrive alongside the Mix Fold 4 later this year.

Today the Mix Flip has been certified in China by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The certification reveals what could be a surprising fact: the Mix Flip will have support for satellite connectivity.

It’s also confirmed that it will use Android, as well as 5G support, but obviously none of these are surprising revelations. While this certification doesn’t reveal any of the device’s specifications, a couple of them have already been leaked in the past.

It’s said to come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and a triple camera setup like Oppo’s Find N3 Flip, with a 3x telephoto lens no less. Let’s hope the Mix Flip borrows the slimness of the Mix Fold line. Unfortunately, it could also borrow the availability limited to China only. Let’s wait and see.
