Introduction and specifications

This year’s Lite model of Xiaomi’s flagship number series looks like a real Lite compared to its vanilla siblings 13 and 13 Pro. The “Lite” designation has been associated with hardware that is not great for those on a budget limited and these models often ride on the success of their true flagship alternatives in the same range. However, this year’s Xiaomi 13 Lite looks like a bargain. There are also some upgrades compared to the Xiaomi 12 Lite.

The display is largely the same as last year, except that this time it is curved and the diagonal is still 6.55″, which makes it a rather compact mid-range solution. One of the most notable changes it’s the new chipset, though. This year, the Lite will be powered by the all-new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, which promises improved efficiency and performance over the older Snapdragon 700 series.

For the most part, the camera setup remains the same. Now the 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor is leading the setup at the back, which is a sensor as big as last year’s 108MP one. Of course, the primary shooter is assisted by the commonly used 8MP ultrawide camera, which is no surprise.

The front setup is completely new, though. The pill-shaped notch houses a 32MP ultra-wide-angle camera with some advanced features and an 8MP depth sensor for better-looking portraits with bokeh.

Last but not least, the build quality has also been improved, as the frame is now made entirely of glass and metal while maintaining lightness and design.
