WhatsApp is now officially available for Wear OS smartwatches. Previously, a beta version had been out for a few months, but this isn’t a beta – it’s a stable, finalized build.

To install and use it, you need to have a Wear OS 3 smartwatch. The app lets you start new conversations, reply to text messages, send voice messages, use emojis, and take calls from your wrist. There is also support for quick replies. Of course, if your Wear OS 3 smartwatch has its own mobile data connectivity, you can do all of this without having your phone nearby and connected to your watch.

WhatsApp is now officially available for Wear OS smartwatches

It is interesting to see that this app is released now, exactly one week before Samsung’s big Unpacked event, during which the Korean company will, among other things, announce the new Wear OS smartwatches. Maybe the timing is a coincidence?

Either way, Google also announced in May that Spotify will be releasing new tiles for its Wear OS app this year, so hopefully they’ll be arriving soon to give the world of third-party apps a fresh take on Google’s wearable platform. .
