The OnePlus 9R sequel arrived this week. In China it will be known as “OnePlus Ace”, but will be known as OnePlus 10R in India, where it will launch next week. As you probably already know, this is a renamed Realme GT Neo3, so the hardware is familiar.

Earlier this month, the GT Neo3 got an overwhelmingly positive response in a weekly poll. Here we are again: Will the 10R or the Ace or whatever you want to call it get the same love?

Note that there are some differences between Realme and OnePlus, mainly on the software side. Are you Team OxygenOS or Team Realme UI?

Before we answer, we remind you that OnePlus extended software support for its phone last year. OnePlus 9R, for example, was in the top tier: 3 OS updates and 4 years of security patches. However, Realme typically only offers 2 OS updates and three years of patches.

Either way, the OnePlus 10R / Ace stands out for being one of the first to use the Dimensity 8100 chipset, specifically a custom 8100 Max version (although it’s not entirely clear what changed from the vanilla chip). This 5nm chip sticks to the true Cortex-A78 and A55 CPU cores, but offers a next-generation Mali-G610 MC6. The first benchmarks look pretty promising. OnePlus offers models with 8/12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage.

Weekly survey: are you all-in on OnePlus 10R / Ace or will you fold?

The phone has a large 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. While it’s not a full-fledged gaming phone, it definitely has a knack for it – we’re talking about the dedicated chip that boosts frame rates. without overloading the GPU.

The phone is only available in one version, which has a 4,500mAh battery and 150W fast charging. And we mean rapid, the 0-50% time is only 5 minutes. In addition, several protection mechanisms ensure that the battery retains at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 cycles. We still would have liked to see a 5,000mAh / 80W version like that of the Realme GT Neo3.

OnePlus 10R / Ace with 150W fast charge should maintain at least 80% capacity after 1,600 charge cycles

Before we go to the polling station, let’s take a quick look at the competition. That’s a pretty short list, there aren’t many Dimensity 8000/8100 phones at the moment. You might consider a Snapdragon 870 or even 888 powered phone instead, but getting down to this price point is tricky.

Pricing is CNY 2,500 for the base 8/256 GB model ($ 390 / € 355 / ₹ 29,500), with 12/256 GB available for CNY 3,000 and 12/512 GB for CNY 3,500.

The Redmi K50 is one of the Dimensity 8100 phones on the market. It has a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display and a larger 5,500mAh battery (67W charging). The 48MP 1 / 2.0 “sensor in the main camera is a bit of a disappointment, however, OnePlus boasts a 50MP 1 / 1.56” sensor (plus an 8MP ultra wide angle). However, we’re still not sure if this will be available globally (perhaps as a Poco phone).

The Realme GT Neo3 will launch globally on April 29, so it’s another alternative. In China, the 5,000mAh / 80W version starts at CNY 2,000, but note that this is also related to the memory configuration (8/128 GB in this case). The 150W charging option is available with 8/256 GB of memory and starts at CNY 2,700. This makes it slightly more expensive than OnePlus if you want 150W charging and slightly cheaper if you don’t.

The iQOO Neo6 packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and a 4,700mAh battery with 80W fast charging, but is more expensive than OnePlus: 2,800 CNY for an 8/128 GB drive, 3,000 CNY if you want the space 256GB of storage. Along with the iQOO 9 SE they have 6.62 “120Hz AMOLED displays, but the 9 SE drops to a Snapdragon 888 and a 4,500mAh battery with 66W charging. It costs ₹ 34,000 in India (8/128GB units ), the Neo5 S equivalent in China is currently discounted at CNY 2,500 (although this is for an 8/256 GB model).

The Motorola Edge S30 also makes the cut (6.8-inch 144Hz LCD, Snapdragon 888+, 108MP main camera, 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging), but we don’t know if and when it might be available at the level global. The Edge X30 launched as the Edge 30 Pro, but the Edge 30 will have a Snapdragon 778G, so that’s not the case.
