The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 series has the potential to become a fan favorite, judging by last week’s poll. Well, only half of the four models received praise from fans, but that was to be expected.

The vanilla Redmi Note 12 doesn’t do much for tech enthusiasts, although it should be a good seller in the casual crowd.

The Redmi Note 12 Explorer and its amazing 210W fast charging have predictably raised battery health concerns – fast charging is good, but it’s too good in this case. Xiaomi says everything is tested and the battery will be fine, but the super short charging times are only appealing to some.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro had the highest positive / negative ratio in the polls of the four models. 67W is fast enough, it seems, and the 200MP main camera isn’t a must-have for everyone.

However, many people are willing to pay extra for the 200MP image sensor in the Redmi Note 12 Pro +. This is the first time we see this resolution in a mid-range device: in this case a Dimensity 1080 has the task of processing the images (the Xiaomi 12T Pro premium uses a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1).

Not everyone in the comments is a fan of the Dimensity line. Some prefer Snapdragon, but there were also some supporters of MediaTek chips. There has been a lot of back and forth on the subject. One more thing: Most Note 11 models had a microSD slot and a 3.5mm jack. The Note 12 series has neither, which did not suit many.

Even with these complaints, the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro + are a win for Xiaomi and have earned the bragging rights with the Explorer edition, even if it won’t be a mass market device.
