vivo is working on custom silicon designs to power its next-generation of camera phones. The company just revealed that it has partnered with Sony’s Lytia division to create a customized version of the LYT800 sensor for the vivo X100 series.

The LYT800 makes use of Sony’s stacked design, which separates the photodiodes and the transistors that read them into two layers (normally they are side by side). This opens up more room so the 1/1.43” Lytia LYT800 sensor is expected to have a low-light performance similar to 1” sensors. The LYT800 will have a 53MP resolution.

There’s more – vivo tapped its partner Zeiss to create the Vario-Apo-Sonner telephoto lens for the X100 series. This will have a floating lens design, which will allow it to focus at closer distances.

The company also recently announced the V3 ISP, a 6nm chip with advanced post-processing functions and support for things like portrait mode videos at up to 4K.

Specs for the international vivo X100 leaked, but unfortunately that didn’t include camera details. The phone should use one of the Dimensity 8-series chips (while the Chinese variant could get the Dimensity 9300) with 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage. It will have a 120Hz AMOLED display and a 5,000mAh battery with 100W charging, according to that leak.
