The Nothing Phone (1) is not yet available for sale in the United States, but one can be purchased through official channels as part of the Nothing beta test program in the United States. This is classified as a test of Nothing OS 1.5 (based on Android 13), but it’s also a test of network coverage.

Here’s the deal: For $300 you can get an 8/128GB phone (1) for testing, though note that there’s no warranty or after-sales service. You can return your phone within 14 days for a refund, but only if it’s undamaged. The beta program will end on June 30, and participants will be able to keep their phone once it is finished.

If you’re thinking about making one to use as a daily driver instead of the beta unit that it is, there’s a catch: Nothing is in talks with the US carriers but hasn’t reached an agreement yet. This means that some services will not be available (for example VoLTE and VoWiFi will not work on AT&T).

There’s also a glitch: the phone (1) was originally intended for a Europe and Asia-only launch, so it lacks support for most of the 5G bands used in the US. See the Beta Signup FAQ for more details. Long story short, T-Mobile’s N41 is the only supported 5G band, so even if nothing fixes anything with the carrier, coverage will be spotty. Compatibility with Verizon is “very limited”.

If you’re still interested in trying one out, you can sign up for a Nothing OS 1.5 Beta subscription here. It will take 5-7 days to ship and as far as we know the white color option is not available and neither are other memory configurations.
