Last year the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 received a below average repairability score of 4/10 PBKReviews’ teardown video. How does the new Galaxy Z Flip5 fare? Much better actually, scored a 7.5/10.

One of the main reasons for this improvement is that Samsung used pull tabs for the two batteries as they were just glued in place last year. The small battery in the top half has a capacity of 1,000mAh, the one in the bottom half has 2,700mAh.

Various other parts have also been made easier to replace, but there are still some potential bumps in the way, for example the 10MP selfie camera is still glued in place. More importantly, replacing the foldable internal display has also been simplified.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 features a completely redesigned hinge that allows the phone to fold without gaps and also allows the display to fold differently. It has already proven to be much more durable than some of its competitors. For more on the Flip, check out our review.
