We saw some CAD-based renders of the Pixel 8 Pro leaked yesterday and gave us our first look at Google’s next flagship device which is expected to launch around October. Today, the same source returned with a series of raw CAD shots, comparing the Pixel 8 Pro’s screen to that of its predecessor, last year’s Pixel 7 Pro, as well as the Pixel 8s to the Pixel 7s.

The Pixel 8 Pro display will be much less curved around the edges, as you can see. On the other hand, it will come with much more rounded corners. This latest change could create a phone that will end up being more comfortable to hold than the Pixel 7 Pro.

Samsung has also opted for less and less curved edges for its Ultras in recent years, and it seems that Google is now following in the Korean firm’s footsteps in this regard. This is not surprising considering the fact that Samsung is expected to supply the Pixel 8 Pro’s display panel.

BTW, note that what you see in the “rounded corners” comparison shots are not frames, as these are raw CAD shots not intended to show anything like this. So don’t worry, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro won’t come with huge unsightly bezels. I hope those will never be trendy again.

The Pixel 8 screen will have rounded corners in a similar way to the Pixel 8 Pro, and therefore will also have a less boxy look than its predecessor. The flat screen will continue to be a feature of the non-Pro flagship Pixel.
