Following the announcement at WWDC 23, macOS Sonoma is now available for download as a free software update for Mac users. You’ll need a 2018 or later MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, or Mac mini. Owners of 2019 or later iMac and Mac Pro are also on board. 2019 and 2023 Mac Pros are also supported, as are 2022 and 2023 Mac Studio models. The oldest supported device on the list is the 2017 iMac Pro.

The official launch of macOS Sonoma begins

macOS Sonoma offers new home screen widgets, a presenter overlay feature for video conferencing, improved Safari features like browsing profiles, and the ability to pin web pages to the dock for a more app-like experience. Game mode offers more consistent frame rates and lower input and audio latency on wireless controllers and AirPods.

Other features hidden in MacOS Sonoma include new and improved AutoCorrect, updates to reminders with smart shopping lists, plus improved quick PDF form filling and document scanning in the Notes app.
