The Tecno Pova 5 has just become official and we had the chance to check out its special Free Fire Special Edition. Here’s what we found inside that large box.
If you’re not familiar with Free Fire (seriously? It has 1 billion downloads on Google Play), it’s a battle royale game, by Garena. So Tecno has now teamed up with the developers to offer the finished Pova 5 in this custom guise.
What’s included is an Amber Gold variant of the phone with a Free Fire case for packaging, a gift card valid for in-game purchases, and personalized Free Fire (featuring Kelly) stickers.
The other accessories inside the box are a protective case, a 45W charger, a USB cable and earphones.

The changes are also done inside the phone where you are greeted with the Free Fire theme. It has a custom live wallpaper (featuring Hayato, Kelly, Moco, Maxim, or Wukong), custom app icons, and even special ringtones and notification sounds.
Note to prospective owners: You’ll still need to download Free Fire because it strangely doesn’t come pre-installed.
Once you download it, Pova 5 has a built-in playspace powered by what Tecno calls the Panther Engine – it allows you to modify the gaming experience and limit your distractions.
The Free Fire Special Edition theme
A note on the interesting finish of the Tecno Pova 5. The design on the back is inspired by Mecha, aiming to replicate the look of a giant futuristic robot. Ours is the Amber Gold variant, but it’s not always yellow. In fact, when viewed from an angle, the back panel is more of a soft cyan color.
It is really nice to look at but fades quickly due to the smudge prone glossy finish. The sides are also polished to a mirror finish, perhaps meant to emulate stainless steel. A very impressive design, but also difficult to clean.
