Apple is preparing to launch the new iPhone 15 series and the latest reports from Korea claim that Samsung will provide most of the OLED panels for the four upcoming phones.
According to industry insiders, the BOE OLED panels failed Cupertino’s quality control test, prompting the American company to place the order for its share with the Korean partner.
LG and Samsung are expected to supply LTPO OLED displays for iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, while BOE is expected to supply LTPS OLED screen panels on iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. However, its products were deemed substandard by Apple, so the its share has been reallocated.
Rumors suggested that the Chinese manufacturer was having problems with holes for Face ID, prompting Apple to reallocate orders at the last minute.
If BOE manages to resolve the problems by the end, it will get at least some orders for the units that will be produced in 2024, but it is unclear whether the Chinese manufacturer will be able to do so.
Apple will unveil iPhone 15 devices today at 10 a.m. PDT. There will be a live stream and here’s what to expect from the vanilla phones and Pro variants.
