Samsung Display has announced its latest product called Flex Hybrid OLED. It’s a panel that can be folded and slid and will be implemented in future smartphones, tablets and laptops. The panel opens to one side and slides out to allow for a large 10.5″ display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and an even larger 12.4″ panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio to fit the footprint of one ordinary smartphone.

The new product, as well as two sliding panels, will be showcased at CES 2023 in Las Vegas, which kicks off later this week.

The Flex Slidable Solo and Flex Slidable Duet designs can be pulled from one (or both) sides to expand a 14″ OLED into a 17.3″ screen. All panels are touch sensitive and will help smartphone makers on their journey to reinvent the mobile phone. It is highly unlikely that these panels will reach the end market any time soon.

Samsung’s presence at CES 2023 will also be the stage for the debut of the new QD-OLED panels of the display division for TVs and monitors. Available sizes are 77″, 65″, 55″ and 34″, as well as an ultra-wide 49″ variant.
