A couple of Galaxy S23 phones were spotted at the FCC a couple of weeks ago, however, the FCC prefers to keep things under wraps. The same cannot be said of TENAA, which has published a fairly complete technical data sheet for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The phone measures 163.4 x 78.1 x 8.9mm and weighs 233g. As expected, it is the same size as the previous S22 Ultra. The display is also the same size, 6.8 inches, with a resolution of 1,440 x 3,088 px (19.3:9 aspect ratio). The battery is rated at 4,855mAh, so typical capacity should be listed as usual as 5,000mAh.

The phone’s CPU frequency lists three clusters: 3.36GHz, 2.8GHz, and 2.0GHz. This coincides with the higher clock speeds of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SM8550-AC, which is said to power the Galaxy series S23 globally (GPU is also overclocked, but TENAA doesn’t list it).

The chipset will be paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage. The Galaxy S22 Ultra also had a base 8/128GB version, though that may not be coming to China.

Speaking of things that won’t make it to China, there is no sign of the alleged satellite communication support. Of course, it wasn’t available on iPhone 14s sold in China as well, so we don’t expect to see it listed on TENAA. This will presumably use the Iridium satellite network and be available for general use, unlike Apple’s system (it was rumored that you would be able to send short messages and even pictures to friends).

Also not listed are the cameras, which presumably include a new 200MP sensor (1/1.3″, 0.6µm, default resolution 12MP), 3x and 10x telephoto with similar hardware but improved image quality. According to the main camera will reportedly finally make the leap to 8K video at 30fps (previous models stick to a cinematic 24fps).

The Samsung Unpacked event will take place in the first week of February, according to inside information, the launch is expected to take place a couple of weeks later in the end of February.
