introduction

The Samsung Galaxy A24 is probably the cheapest Samsung phone that makes sense to buy. Unlike the A10 and A00 series, the Galaxy A20 range has produced some solid offerings over the years and the new A24 4G is shaping up to be another one.

If you’re looking for an affordable phone with a smooth screen, good cameras, long battery life, and an attractive design, well, that’s exactly what the Galaxy A24 offers. It sure isn’t a fast phone, let alone one that’s good for gaming, but it seems like it can handle everything else very well.

Let’s start with the design. It is a traditional flat shape with two glossy panels and a matte frame. The 6.5-inch screen uses a 1080p Super AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate, which is a nice surprise for this price range.

And speaking of beautiful treats, the photography department sure looks good too. On the back is a 50MP primary OIS, assisted by a 5MP and 2MP ultrawide macro camera. There’s also a 13MP selfie shooter.

The Helio G99 chipset isn’t anything to brag about, really, but it has two fast CPU cores, so it should at least handle your usual Android apps just fine. We appreciate the 5,000mAh battery, however, and expect it to shine in combination with that chipset.

Finally, the Galaxy A24 runs on Android 13 with the latest One UI 5.1. And it’s the experience for all intents and purposes and not one of those “Core” implementations.

The Galaxy A24 4G is not a waterproof smartphone, a premium feature reserved for the Galaxy A3x and later models. There’s no 5G support and no stereo speakers, but at that price, that was to be expected. At least we have good options like a microSD expansion and a 3.5mm jack.

The most important updates of the Galaxy A24 compared to the Galaxy A23 4G are the move to a Super AMOLED panel and doubled the base memory. And we both appreciate it.
