On New Year’s Eve, the Redmi 12C was made official, and now it seems that Xiaomi’s sub-brand is preparing to expand the vanilla, non-Note 12 family in the coming weeks and months with the Redmi 12 sans C.

The Redmi 12 has already been spotted in an IMEI database, as well as at the FCC, meaning it will most likely have an international launch, although how far it will be geographically expanded or limited remains to be seen.

The Redmi 12 will be a 4G-only device, launched with MIUI 14 on board from day one, though it’s currently impossible to say whether it will be based on Android 12 or 13. Hopefully it’s the latter, but don’t take it for granted.

Certification of the phone has revealed that it comes with a 33W charging adapter, which almost certainly means the device itself will be able to. The battery capacity should be at least 5,000mAh as that has pretty much become the standard nowadays. Unfortunately these are all the details we have right now about the Redmi 12, but surely more will be revealed soon.

For reference, the Redmi 12C, which will likely end up being lower-end than the Redmi 12, comes with a 6.71-inch 720×1560 LCD screen, Helio G85 chipset, 3-6GB RAM, 64/128 GB of expandable memory, a 50MP main camera, 5MP selfie snapper and 5,000mAh battery.
