The GT2 Explorer Master is built around a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sample rate. The display has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and a Full HD + resolution.

The company has developed a custom X7 display driver chip that optimizes display performance and power consumption. The bezel is ultra-thin with 1.48mm on the sides and top and 2.37mm on the bottom.

The triple-camera setup on the rear includes the popular 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, the same as its predecessor GT Explorer Master and seen in half a dozen other Realme smartphones. The 150-degree FoV ultrawide camera has another 50MP sensor, while the third 2MP module only takes macro shots. The 16MP selfie shooter is mounted in a centered hole.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset has a powerful Adreno 730 GPU that works with the Realme X7 chip to ensure better touch responsiveness and correct refresh rate selection. In theory, the X7 can artificially extrapolate frame rates from 30fps to 120fps while gaming and from 60fps to 120fps in any other scenario.

The distinctive design of the phone is called “Travel Trunk”. The structure is metallic, while the back is made of “vegan leather”, which is a patterned plastic. The phone is also offered in black and white colors. The device is equipped with shoulder keys – these are not the typical mechanical buttons but pressure-sensitive areas on the right side (at the top during the game).

Realme claims that GT2 Explorer Master will work wonders for mobile gamers and power users looking to get it all out of the hardware. The phone has two vapor chambers and Realme GT Mode 3.0.

There is 100W fast charging support for the 5,000mAh battery, and Realme claimed that 0-100% is reached in 25 minutes. The company has promised that, despite this, the battery will last twice as long as its competitors thanks to the GaN materials in the cell, which guarantee 1600 full cycles before the battery capacity is reduced to 80%.

The Realme GT2 Explorer Master has Realme UI 3.0 on Android 12 and is designed in such a way that the metal frame acts as an antenna for better 5G connectivity. Other features include dual-band GPS, 360-degree NFC, and an under-display optical FP scanner.

The phone will only be available in mainland China and Realme has no plans to take it overseas which is a shame as it looks really great. Pricing starts at CNY 3,499 for an 8/128 GB version, CNY 3,799 for an 8/256 GB and CNY 3,999 for a 12/256 GB version. Pre-orders are already open on Realme.com and shipments will begin on July 19th.
