Introduction and specifications

One could argue that the Poco F5 Pro is a successor to last year’s Poco F4 GT. However, there are a couple of key differences that set them apart, and price is one of them. The Poco F5 Pro launches at a lower price than its supposed predecessor and offers a slightly lower level of features. However, the goal remains the same: to deliver a near-flagship experience on the cheap.

Poco F5 Pro review

Even though it uses last year’s chipset, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, it’s still quite capable of handling everything on the Play Store and is an improved version of the SD8 Gen 1 standard. This potentially places the F5 Pro in the budget flagship category with an early bird price of around €480 and a regular price of €580.

The device also ships with 256GB of internal storage as standard, albeit without a microSD card slot. And last but not least, the F5 Pro offers an updated 1440p+ panel with 1,000 nits of peak brightness and HDR10+/Dolby Vision certifications for a modern media viewing experience.

Poco F5 Pro review

The Poco F5 Pro takes over the role of “flagship for the masses” in Poco’s portfolio for 2023 after last year’s Poco F4 GT didn’t satisfy most users as its main focus was to provide niche game at a lower price. The F5 Pro just wants to appeal to the majority of users. It’s a simple enough formula, so we’re eager to see how that pans out, especially with the cheapest Poco F5 on the menu, which offers similar performance with its fast Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC under the hood.

Poco F5 Pro unboxing

The phone comes in a standard box containing all the normal user manuals, the appropriate 67W fast charger and a USB-A to USB-C cable for data transfer and charging.

There’s also a clear silicone case as a bonus, so it doesn’t hide the neat paint job.
