The Google Pixel 8 series is still a couple of months away, but according to a popular whistleblower of things related to Samsung, the 8 Pro could get a big main camera upgrade.

Pixel 7 Pro could use Samsung's larger ISOCELL sensor

The report claims the Pixel 8 Pro will use Samsung’s larger ISOCELL GN2 sensor, which measures 1/1.12-inch and has a native resolution of 50MP, 12.5MP after binning. This allows for an effective pixel size of 2.8 µm. This is a big upgrade from last year’s Pixel 7 Pro which runs on a 50MP, 1/1.31-inch sensor.

It seems that many flagship models are moving towards 1-inch sensors, so it would make perfect sense for Google to update the sensor size on its flagship cameraphone as well. Still, Ice universe didn’t elaborate further, so we’ll have to wait a little longer for the full details.
