Huawei is still around, despite the very damaging penalties it has faced for a few years now, and it releases a limited number of phones each year, focusing on the mid-range nova line and foldables. The Mate Xs 2 belongs to the latter category and gives us an intriguing glimpse of what could have been one of the Galaxy Z Fold3’s main competitors, had it been able to flaunt 5G and use the Play Store.

We recently finished our in-depth written version of the top-notch brochure of the struggling Chinese company, and today we’re bringing you the video version of the review as well. As usual, it aims to be concise but still incredibly informative, giving you all the important information about the device without going into every single corner.

The Mate Xs 2 definitely comes at a high-end price point, and when you combine that with the lack of Google services and the lack of 5G, it becomes a pretty tough sell for most people. Still, we enjoyed seeing him again because he has a creepy air of “what could have been” if the story had been different.

It has a unique and interesting form factor, folds opposite to what the competitors are doing, and needs one less screen in the process, while also feeling like a normal smartphone that is slightly thicker when closed. Oh, and the cameras are great too. On the other hand, the battery life is quite poor and the screen is always very exposed, so the life could be an issue.
