OnePlus got busy yesterday with new product launches and announcing increased availability for others. Two of the new offerings are the OnePlus Ace 2 (for China) and the closely related 11R (for India), both powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. It’s possible the company has another related model, though kept under wraps .

Loser Digital chat station claims that a OnePlus Ace 2 with Dimensity 9000 is in the works. This could be a new, slightly cheaper alternative or perhaps a special edition – some have suggested the name OnePlus Ace 2 Racing Edition.

OnePlus may be working on an Ace 2 powered by a Dimension 9000

Other than the chipset, the phone will be largely identical with a 6.74-inch (1,240 x 2,772 px) display, 5,000mAh battery with 100W charging, up to 16GB of RAM, and so on. The big exception is the 64MP OmniVision sensor in the main camera, which will replace the 50MP IMX890 used in the Ace 2 unveiled yesterday.

The Snapdragon-powered Ace 2 has a base price of CNY 2,800 for a 12/256GB unit and will go on sale in China on February 13 (the company is currently taking pre-orders). The Dimension-powered Ace 2 (if it exists) should be slightly cheaper.

For example, last year Oppo presented a version of the Find X5 Pro that used the Dimension 9000 instead of the usual Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (non-plus). The Dimension version started at CNY 5,800, down from Snapdragon’s CNY 6,300 price tag.
