After a few weeks of beta testing, OnePlus is ready to launch the stable OxygenOS 12 update for the Nord CE 2 5G. The phone was originally launched this February with OxygenOS 11.3 / Android 11 and will receive another major OS update after this one (plus, the company has committed to 3 years of security patches).

In addition to all the new features of Android 12, this update (version C.05) also includes new features from OnePlus and the July security patch. Below is the complete log of changes for the new version:

  • Optimized AI System Booster to 2.1 to support smooth system operation even when the load is high
  • Optimized software algorithm and improved facial recognition to better identify the features and skin color of different figures

Dark mode

  • Three adjustable levels recently added, providing a more personalized and comfortable user experience

Shelf

  • New style options added for tabs, making data content more visual and easier to read
  • Newly added access to OnePlus Scout in Shelf, which allows you to search for more content on your phone, including apps, settings, media, etc.
  • just added OnePlus Watch Card in Shelf, to easily take a look at your health status

Balance between work and private life

  • New Work Life Balance feature, which allows you to easily switch between Work and Life mode via quick settings
  • Newly supported auto change of work / life mode, based on specific locations, Wi-Fi network and time, also bringing custom app notification profiles based on customization

Gallery

  • Switching between different layouts recently supported with a two-finger pinch gesture, intelligent image recognition of better quality and content-based thumbnail cropping, making gallery layout more enjoyable

AOD canvas

  • New line styles and colors recently added, for a more personalized lock screen experience with inspiring images
  • Recently added new brushes and strokes and support for color adjustment

To install the update, make sure your Nord CE 2 5G has at least 5 GB of free storage space and a charger of 30% or more. Note that you may not see the update right away as it is rolled out incrementally. It is currently only available to a small percentage of users and will expand in the coming days.

You can follow this forum post for reports from users who have already installed the update. There you will also find instructions on how to get back to Android 11 if it proves necessary.

By the way, the original OnePlus Nord CE started getting OxygenOS 12 yesterday.
