The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T are business phones in line for an update to Android 12, the company revealed. The beta was previously discontinued, but now Oxygen OS 12 Open Beta 1 is again available for download.
The beta version offers all the new features of Android 12 and is available to anyone with a OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro smartphone.
All users running Oxygen OS 11.0.7.1 or 11.0.8.1 can try the beta version but need at least 4GB of free storage. The good news is that if it doesn’t work well for you, you can easily go back to the Android 11 build.
Oxygen OS 12 beta 1 will bring these features to all OnePlus 7 phones:

- Recently added Smart Battery Engine, a battery life-extending feature based on intelligent algorithms and biomimetic auto-recovery technology;
- Redesign app icons using new materials to give more depth and a greater sense of space and texture to the icons;
- Renew the layout based on the principle of visual noise reduction and optimize the presentation of text and color to bring out the key information;
- Optimized desktop icons with improved textures, using a design inspired by brand new materials and combining lights and layers;
- Enhanced Spam Blocking Rules – Adds a rule to block MMS messages.
- Games
- Recently added HyperBoost end-to-end frame rate stabilizer;
- Newly added vocal effect preview to let you record your own vocal effect or check your own vocal effect in real time.
- Dark mode
- Dark mode now supports three adjustable levels, providing a more personalized and comfortable user experience.
- Shelf
- New additional style options for tabs, which make data content more visual and easier to read;
- Newly added access to OnePlus Scout in Shelf, which allows you to search for more content on your phone, including apps, settings, media, etc.
- Balance between work and private life
- The Work-Life Balance feature is now available to all users, allowing you to easily switch between Work and Life modes via quick settings;
- WLB 2.0 now supports automatic change of work / life mode, based on specific locations, Wi-Fi network and time, also offering customized app notification profiles based on personalization.
- Gallery
- The Gallery now lets you switch between layouts with a two-finger pinch gesture, intelligently recognizing the best quality images and cropping the thumbnail based on the content, making the gallery layout more enjoyable.
- AOD canvas
- Canvas AOD brings you new different styles of lines and colors, for a more personalized lock screen experience with inspiring images;
- Recently added new brushes and strokes and support for color adjustment;
- Optimized software algorithm and improved facial recognition to better identify the features and skin color of different figures.
- Accessibility
- Optimized categorization of functions by grouping them in sight, hearing, interactive and general actions;
- TalkBack supports multiple system apps including Photos, Phone, Mail and Calendar.
