Following the release of stable Android 14 for the (2) phone, Nothing started beta testing the update for the (1) phone last month. And now the tests are over.

Today, Nothing Phone (1) receives the Android 14 update, as part of the Nothing OS 2.5 release. This includes many new features, as you might expect.

Here’s the full changelog, straight from Nothing:

  • Redesigned a joint Home screen and Lock screen customization page and improved the wallpaper change flow for a more complete display of options.
  • New Atmosphere wallpaper effect. Turn your background photo into a dynamic wallpaper that gives movement to the colors on your home screen. A smooth transition between the lock screen and home screen.
  • Introduced solid color wallpapers for a cleaner look on the Home screen.
  • Added a monochrome color theme in the base colors section.
  • Get direct access to the music display function of the Glyph interface (some of you may have already discovered this).
  • Overall improvement to the glyph light playback effect when syncing with device audio.
  • Added a new glyph animation for when NFC is used.
  • Improved the Flip to Glyph experience.
  • Double-press the customizable power button to quickly access your chosen function. Go to Settings > System > Gestures.
  • Other lock screen shortcut options like: Do Not Disturb, Mute, QR Code Scanner and Camera.
  • Quickly capture screenshots with a three-finger swipe gesture.
  • New screenshot editor and menu, allowing for more advanced editing features and quick deletions.
  • Updated the back gesture arrow graphics to be more in line with Nothing’s style.
  • Added support for switching ring modes in Quick Settings.
  • Now you can directly set up your network via Quick Settings without unlocking your device.
  • Updated Quick Settings layout and support to show more device icons.
  • Pedometer Widget: Track your daily steps right from your home screen. Set goals and track your progress to stay motivated.
  • Media Player Widget: Displays the song currently playing. Easily control your music on the go.
  • Screen Time Widget: Track and manage your screen time each day to maintain a healthy digital lifestyle.
  • Optimized the Weather app experience and improved weather alert notification.
  • Ringtone and notification sound volumes could be set separately, with an updated volume control interface.
  • Automatically excludes previous screenshot preview when taking continuous screenshots.
  • Improved camera stability.
  • Improved overall system fluidity and responsiveness for a smoother user experience.
  • Improved system stability and improved battery life.

To get the update on your Nothing Phone (1), go to Settings > System > System Update. Keep in mind, however, that the rollout is staggered, so it will gradually reach all devices out there over the next few days.
