Some reports claim that a Nintendo Direct is even planned for next week, but that has yet to be officially confirmed. The expectation is that Nintendo will present several first-party titles, including Super Mario RPG, The Return of Detective Pikachu AND WarioWare: Get moving.

One thing we won’t hear about is Switch 2, the sequel to the wildly successful handheld console. However, the work is being done behind the scenes as there are rumors that Nintendo showed off a prototype console to developers attending the recent Gamescom event.

They got to see a rework Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which makes use of new, more powerful hardware. What the hardware might be is not known at the moment.

The original Nintendo Switch has seen several versions, but they’re all powered by an Nvidia Tegra but the performance is exactly the same (only the battery life has been improved).

This is an older chip with four Cortex-A57 cores at 1.02 GHz and four A53 cores, as well as a Maxwell-based GPU (from the GTX 900 generation). Furthermore, this was paired with the older LPDDR4 RAM, 4GB. Basically, any modern smartphone chip blows it out of the water.

But has Nintendo once again chosen an Nvidia chip? Or he found another partner. This remains a mystery for now.

Nintendo Switch 2 will likely launch in late 2024, with the first official reveal likely happening earlier. For example, the Switch was first introduced (under the codename “NX”) in March 2015, the full announcement came in October 2016, and the console was finally released in March 2017.
