According to anonymous sources, the S24 Ultra will be the first Samsung smartphone to have a titanium outer frame. Depending on the reception given to this feature, the company could then decide to expand it to other models.
We’ve heard something similar in the past, but then, in early October, a rumor denied the others by claiming that the S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra would all have titanium frames. Now we’re back to only the Ultra.
Today’s report also tells us that current aluminum frames cost Samsung less than $20, and the key to wider titanium adoption will be yield: low yields could increase the price by up to four or five times , which would not be acceptable. Obviously. So let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Samsung has tentatively set a goal of making 15 million titanium frames initially, which coincidentally is exactly the number of Galaxy S23 Ultra units shipped this year – so clearly, the S24 Ultra is the intended recipient.
