Motorola made the Razr 40 Ultra foldable smartphone official for international markets last month, and the same device is being marketed in the US as the Razr+. It’s the same thing, so when YouTube channel JerryRigEverything’s Zack does his trademark durability test on a Razr+, know that if you’re not in North America what you see applies to the Razr 40 Ultra as well.

Now that we’ve got that much-needed clarification out of the way (thanks, Motorola!), let’s get to work. As usual, Zack puts the smartphone through a series of tests: screen scratches, screen burn, and of course, what you’re all here for: the bending test.

We have to say that this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a smartphone fail a bending test, but it’s the first time we’ve seen one fail in this particular way. Kudos to Motorola for doing this creatively?

In case you can’t watch the video, here’s what happens. When folded, it’s not the main flexible screen that sags. Rather, the Gorilla Glass Victus of the outer screen shatters. This is… not something that should happen, we assume?

However, keep in mind that this is a pretty extreme way to “use” a phone, so it’s very likely that something like this will never happen to you. Other than the bending test, everything was normal: The screens scratch when they should, and they react to an open flame as you’d expect.
