With cloud-based gaming platforms, companies like Microsoft can now change their strategy in new ways that weren’t possible before. Almost a year and a half ago, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, revealed that it would be possible to stream Xbox games to TV “in the next 12 months”. The same was said again in June 2021, when Microsoft confirmed it would be offering a Smart TV app and an Xbox streaming stick in the same amount of time.

In a new report by Beat Adventure, “Microsoft plans to release an Xbox cloud gaming streaming device” which will be released in the next 12 months. This, according to “experts in the field”. The delays are likely due to supply chain constraints caused by severe disruptions in Ukraine due to the invasion and in China due to the blockade.

Such a device is assumed to resemble an Amazon Fire TV Stick or a form factor similar to a Roku disc. This device allows you to stream movies and TV from apps, but also allows access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

It has also been reported that Microsoft and Samsung are working closely together to develop this streaming app so that owners of Samsung Smart TVs don’t even need to buy a dedicated device for this purpose. This too would be launched within the next 12 months.
