Apple released iOS 16 this Monday and saw slightly faster adoption than iOS 15 in the first three days. While this is a nice upgrade for older iPhone owners, those who buy an iPhone 14 model are getting the new OS out of the box. But there’s a problem.

The iPhone 14 series was updated with a slightly earlier build of iOS 16 at the factory, and Apple discovered three problems with it. The former is quite important as it may cause problems while activating the new phone and migrating from the old one.

Don’t worry though, iOS version 16.0.1 is already available and the phone should ask you to install any system updates at the start of the initial setup. You need to update before proceeding.

The new minor version also solves two other problems. One hit the iPhone 14 Pro Max and made the zoomed-in photos (in landscape orientation) soft. Another prevented enterprise single sign-on apps from authenticating.

By the way, a bigger update, iOS 16.1, is already in beta. It adds the battery percentage icon to some older iPhones, lets you delete the Apple Wallet app, and introduces “Clean Energy Charging”. Basically, your iPhone will check the status of your local power grid and prefer to charge when low-carbon generators are online. This system also tracks your daily routine, so it will make sure your phone is charged when you need it.

The iPhones 14, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will be available tomorrow, so if you’ve pre-ordered one (or plan to pick one up in store), remember to install the v16.0.1 update. The iPhone 14 Plus will arrive on October 7th.
