Fresh off the presentation of the IFA 2022 for the European market, we have the Honor Pad 8 with us for a quick hands-on and to examine its key features. Despite the Pad 8 naming, the tablet features a large 12-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels and a 5: 3 aspect ratio. This makes the Pad 8 a great device for multimedia consumption and multitasking. It’s strange to use the tablet in portrait mode given the odd aspect ratio.

Our review unit is available in blue, a dark shade that attracts a lot of fingerprints. There are a pair of speakers on each side of the display and a USB-C cable for charging and data transfer. The top half has power and volume buttons. The package contains a 22.5W charger and a USB-A to USB-C cable. Honor also offers an optional keyboard accessory that should help with productivity tasks.

Pad 8 has a premium look and feel with its sleek aluminum frame. It is also quite thin at 6.9mm and weighs only 520 grams. The software interface is covered by Android 12-based Magic UI 6.1. There are some nice multitasking features including a fast-switching app drawer with floating windows. The dock can also hold up to four recently used apps. You can also mirror a compatible Honor smartphone to the tablet.
