Over the past year, Google has shown its efforts to improve areas outside of Android, including both tablets with the launch of Android 12L, and wearables with its upcoming Pixel Watch. Laptops were another area Google was working on expanding next year, and we learn in a report from The border that Google was planning to launch a new Pixelbook, but those plans have now been canceled.

The cancellation of the project was part of Google’s recent internal cost-cutting decisions, and the members who worked on the Pixelbook have been transferred to other departments. The border recalls when Google’s head of hardware Rick Osterloh mentioned to the outlet that Google would “make Pixelbooks in the future”.

Google will announce the new hardware on October 6, including the new Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, a new Pixel Watch, and some rumors suggest we might see some new Nest Home hardware as well. While not at the next event, Google is on track to release a foldable Pixel device next year.
