In early September, Google released the first beta build for the upcoming version 1 of the quarterly Android 13 platform, also known as QPR1. And today, the company is moving forward with the second beta. There should be a third in November, followed by the stable release in December.

Google says the second beta of Android 13 QPR1 comes with the October 2022 security patches applied. The beta is only getting them a couple of days after stable trunk did.

The new build number is T1B2.220916.004 and it comes with Google Play services version 22.26.15. This release is expected to include bug fixes and stability and performance improvements, although Google has no less vague change log than this one.

While the usual precautions about installing non-final software builds apply, these QPR betas should be more stable than the initial developer previews for new Android releases, as they are beta after all. There are also only three, followed by the correct release.

Android 13 QPR1 Beta 2 is available for Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6a. To access the Android Beta program, register your eligible device on this website and you will receive this build as a software update as well as the next beta and final version.
