With summer in full swing, chances are high you’ll be spending several hours on a plane to your vacation destination. Your flight will be made smoother and quieter with the right Active Noise Canceling (ANC) headphones. We’ve already looked at Apple’s AirPods deals for Prime Day, now let’s take a look at Sony headphones.
We’ll start with the Sony WH-1000XM4. Although they have been superseded by the XM5, these offer better value for money with similar features at a significantly lower price. Check out our reviews for more details.
The WH-1000XM5s have upgraded ANC, which blocks more noise in the mid-range and highs, though it’s not as good as blocking bass. The XM5s are also lighter and have better banding, but the padding on the cups isn’t as nice.
If those are too expensive, the WH-XB910Ns are a more affordable over-ear option. They’re comfortable and have good noise cancellation, but fall short of the XM4. And they have very long battery life to boot.
There are also a couple of TWS gems. The WF-1000XM4s are a relatively compact package with up to 10 hours of continuous playback and a decent ANC system, which is more effective at blocking out speech than engine noise. They are also more comfortable than the older XM3 model.
Again there is a budget option, the Sony WF-C700N at half the price. The ANC isn’t great, but these are light and comfortable buds with good battery life (up to 8 hours).
