Xiaomi has already released three members of its latest flagship family: Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro and 12X. However, this line is set to grow in the future, with a much-rumored 12 Ultra, and another model that could actually become official before then: the Xiaomi 12 Lite.

As the name suggests, this would be a successor to last year’s Mi 11 Lite 5G and 11 Lite 5G NE, although the updates compared to the latter certainly won’t be many. Previously leaked renders that you can see below suggest a Xiaomi 12-like design and curved screen (which the 2021 models didn’t have).

Additionally, the 6.55-inch AMOLED FHD + panel will have a 120Hz refresh rate, according to a new leak today, and that’s a leap up from the 11 Lite 5G NE’s 90Hz. The battery has also been expanded, now 4,500mAh with 67W fast charging, 4,250mAh with 33W support on last year’s models.

For the rest, Xiaomi 12 Lite is basically a Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, with the same Snapdragon 778G chipset, 6/8 GB of RAM, 128/256 GB of storage, 64 MP main camera with OIS, 8 MP ultrawide and 5 MP macro cam.

The fingerprint sensor will this time be below the display and not side-mounted, which could be considered an upgrade or a downgrade whichever you prefer. Oddly enough, the 12 Lite’s selfie snapper is 16MP, down from its predecessor’s 20MP. Unsurprisingly, Xiaomi 12 Lite launches with Android 12 with MIUI 13 on top.
