Facebook introduced the ability to send and receive SMS messages through Messenger in 2016, but now the feature is on its way out. Facebook announced the news in a new post on its Help Center page.
Users who rely on Messenger as their default texting app will no longer be able to send and receive messages after updating the app on September 28.
